My girlfriend has lived in Two Rivers all her life. I moved in with her and her daughter ten years ago. Jody had a dog that never liked me. I took a room in the basement because Jody's daughter Kelly had taken the larger bedroom and the dog had trashed the other bedroom. The basement has two entrances one from inside from the first floor, and one from outside. I guess the basement was originally only accessible from outside through some HermanMunster doors which had since been replaced. One night, shortly after I moved in, Kelly was telling Jody about an old picture she had seen in the library of the cemetery a block away in which you could see the house we lived in. The house was built in the 1800's and I guess it was one of only a few houses around there for a couple years. Kelly said she was spooked out by the picture and wandered if there were any ghosts in the cemetery. I started to tease her by making ghostly noises and she got a little bit annoyed. (I was raised in a religious household where we simply did not believe in ghosts.) Kelly reminded

me that I had been doing this a couple nights after the incident. That night, I was awoken from my sleep by a knocking on the outside door to the basement. I though it was strange because I didn't hear anyone come down the outside steps and the dog didn't bark. To get to the outside basement door, you had to walk all the way to the back of the house,

open a doorwhich usually stuck and come down the steps. I was wondering if I had dreamed that I had heard the knocking. I just didn't see how anyone could get to the door without at least waking up the dog. I went upstairs to check on things. Jody was asleep on the couch in the living room and the dog was sleeping on the floor. I figured I must have dreamt that I had heard the knocking. First of all, even though the dog didn't like me, it would have at least barked to warn Jody and if someone were actually knocking, there is a far greater likelihood that someone would actually hear a knock at the front door. I went back downstairs and I climbed back into bed. As soon as I pulled the covers over me, I heard the WIERDEST laugh. It was low and really creepy sounding. I never got up to answer the door. and I didn't hear any footsteps climbing the outside stairs. I figured whatever it was, it was out there and I was inside, and i don't believe that ghosts can hurt people.was not dreaming. I do sometimes walk in my sleep, but I usually find out

about it the next day when Jody tells me about it. A few nights later, I told Jody and Kelly about the incident. Kelly said she had told me not to make fun of the ghosts. Jody had also seen ghosats in the house years ago andI could swear that Kelly has undeveloped extrasensory powers. Submitted by Tim Rauch
