I think it is important to know the house was built in 1851 by Christian Schmutzler. It has been referred to in History books about Watertown as being and exact replica of his home in Bavaria. It was called the ''small eagle house'' because of the eagle embellishments that were placed over each window outside. Now they have deteriorated and cant really be made out as to what they are.
