near my house, before I moved out this way. I don't know if any of that has to do with who walks around at night above us, but it's interesting to read about. Nothing here has been harmful, so I have no problems with them, and they are welcome to stay.

When I was younger I always used to see this tall and thin black figure that zipped across my house and even in my grandmother's house (also in Algonquin.) Sometimes it would stop in one place for a few seconds before. I was so scared I had to hide under a blanket until it would be gone. I only talked to it once. It sounded like my cousin (who lived in Algonquin at the time as well) even though my doors were locked windows shut, and she was at her own house. 'She' was asking for some snacks. I got up to peep into the other room to greet her, but no one was there. I saw the black figure disappear into the pantry, and I was too scared to even go over to investigate.
Other times when my whole family was in our basement watching a movie together (my dog included) we'd all hear loud footsteps coming from the pantry and kitchen area of the house. We all just sat very still, and I for one was terrified. My mother asked if we locked the door, and she even asked me to go check (assuming it may be my relatives upstairs.) Of course I refused. When she got upstairs to look for herself there was no one there. I used to hear my mother calling my name, and I would yell 'what' in response over and over. She'd ask me why I was yelling, and I'd say you were just calling me. Shed reply with ''I didn't say anything at all.''
One other occasion was when I was just minding my own business reading a book for school or something. I heard the house phone ringing just from the kitchen which was only a mere forty feet away. By the time I got half way to the phone it would completely stop, so I'd check the call history, and it never showed that someone had recently called. When I got back to where I was sitting the ringing would begin again. I just looked over this time, and the phone wasn't even glowing like it usually would if someone was calling.
To this day I only experience the sound of light switches flipping coming from my mother's room. Only my sister (13 years old) and I (16 years old) have experienced the noises. I try to convince myself it's just my head making this up, but it just pops up out of nowhere. At first my sister didn't even believe me before she heard for herself, which led her to run to my parents in the basement. I just stayed where I was trying not to freak out. I can somewhat handle it now, but it still makes me jump a bit when I hear the noise. I rarely see the black figure anymore. It seems as if they have been trying to leave, and honestly I hope they do.
