Bishop Hill, Illinois Ghost Tales My sister and I were the only guests at a farmhouse B&B outside of Bishop Hill. Although we had wandered through rooms upstairs, we later heard footsteps echo loudly from the second floor, and a whoosh! of dank air drove us back in terror when we opened the door to the basement stairs.  The house was obviously occupied - but not by the living.  We were terrified and felt chilled. We did not spend the night but went instead to a motel in Galesburg.  We tried to reach the owner, but we didn't speak to her until the next day.  She returned our money and made little comment. Submitted by Janice bengtson While the sun is shining Bishop Hill, Illinois is a normal United States city, but the ghost descriptions exposed by the residents are enough to make anybody think twice about making a stop in this town. Ghosts are so standard here; loads of people who live here don’t even worry about it anymore. A number of people who live here say these accounts are lies, but there beyond doubt are terrifying things going on here in Bishop       Hill during the moonlight hours. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A woman afire, gripping a petroleum container has been said to have been noticed on a small number of occasions covering a corpse by a large boulder in Bishop Hill Historic District after midnight. The phantom   of a youthful air force pilot can occasionally be perceived at Nystrom Lake Dam at the stroke of midnight looking at the panorama. Either way, this ghost unquestionably is chilling; one that any reasonable person wouldn't wish to encounter.
