Carlinville, Illinois Ghost Tales I have never heard any of these stories.  I have lived in Carlinville for nearly 20 years.  All we ever heard about was the ''Blue Lady'' at Moore Cemetery and the haunted Loomis Hotel. . Phantoms are so usual around here; scores of residents don’t even think about it anymore. Several residents declare there are no ghosts, but creepy things undoubtedly occur here in Carlinville during the night time. These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. An army uniform pacing about lacking a body in it has supposedly been seen on numerous occasions consuming a cracker down a deserted highway close to Carlinville very late at night. The phantom of a dreadfully scorched lady can from time to time be witnessed in Carlinville Historic       District at midnight glugging down motor oil. A number of of the people here allege this ghost can be the soul of a resident who died here in Carlinville some time ago. The phantom of a man with a cross carved into his arm was made out spending time in a neglected home in Carlinville. The spirit mumbled about avenging a slaying. In any event,   it without a doubt is a chilling ghost that should be avoided. The spirit of a critically mangled huntsman pulling a dead mountain lion materialized at Austiff Pond Dam around midnight reading a newspaper. The witness got freaked out and escaped. No matter what, this ghost certainly is chilling; one that you wouldn't wish to run into before sunrise. The phantom of a young-looking female with a cord around her neck was seen up on the pinnacle of Brushy Mound clutching a headbone. The ghost did not appear to be agonized by the bystanders. Regardless of what people express, it's a terrifying ghost that any rational person would not want to come across. A guy without a head came into sight screaming by Anderson Branch. The ghost saluted the watcher. Anyhow, it is unquestionably a terrifying ghost that you shouldn't go trying to locate. An exceptionally creepy ghost was perceived standing by a secluded road next to Carlinville. When the ghost was perceived it disappeared into the thin air. In any event, this is a bad spirit that should be shunned.
