Danforth, Illinois Ghost Tales


In the daytime Danforth, Illinois is equal to any other United States settlement, but this settlement belongs to undeceased spirits of long ago. Phantoms are so normal around here; scores of people who live here don’t even think about it any longer. Not everybody has faith in the testimonies the people who live here tell, but the undead may perhaps show themselves to you if you stay for the night in Danforth.

A woman alight, clutching a kerosene bottle can every so often be witnessed gulping gasoline from a gas pump at a gasoline station in Danforth.

The ghost of a young air force pilot was witnessed walking a Collie in the early morning hours before sunrise on a shady Danforth lane. Several folks in the vicinity have had comparable sightings involving an almost identical ghost. A local resident alleges that this ghost is the ghost of a traveler that was murdered while passing through Danforth a long time ago.

A woman with
 
    a bottle-green face materialized hurling pieces of wood into the flowing water at Prairie Creek before sunrise. This phantom is extremely active in this vicinity; there have been frequent additional stories of this exact phantom. One of the residents confidently says that this ghost is that of a local person who existed here in Danforth before the
  present. One thing's for sure, this ghost sure is bloodcurdling; one that you don't want to come across before sunrise.

A man having a sword in his head was witnessed watching shows in a Danforth living room late at night. This is one of those ghosts that is distinguished very frequently around here.

The ghost of a mail carrier came into view quite near the entrance to Goose Lake Prairie State Park destroying a box. The eye witness fled when he noticed the phantom.
