of the home, Dr. William Fithian. They showed me a photo of Dr. Fithian and , indeed, it was the gentleman I had seen. The town was named for Dr.
William Fithian in the 1830's. He was a physician, served in both the Illinois house of representatives and the Illinois senate and was friend and supporter of Abraham Lincoln. The downstairs of the home had housed his practice.
The small downstairs bedroom was the exam room. The room I saw him in was
used as the waiting room.|
