Georgetown, Illinois Ghost Tales The Old Sportsman Club just west of Georgetown is supposedly haunted.  It has been close for about 20 years.  When the pool was still opened lockers would mysteriously open and slam shut.  Toilets would flush randomly and lights would turn on and off while it was closed.  There was stories of a couple mornings that the diving board was bouncing up and down, and their were waves in the pool.  No one could explain this mysterious event, so if you want to know if it is true go check it out for yourself!. Submitted by T-Bigs       Category: sportsman_club My friends and I went to school in georgetown,Il and we liked to ghost hunt various places in the town and area. One particular place is located on N. 3rd street, a house that was abandoned and was supposed to be used for transporting slaves. Anyway, we decided to investigate. Upon entering the house we noticed a cold draft and a fowl stentch, as the door closed a tin can flew across the floor. We all paused for a second, we all didn't want eachother       to think we were scared so we proceeded into the house. Once in the main living room section there was a stronger breeze met with a whispering gasp and a feint sound of chains clanging coming from the floor, we continued to explore the house. In another section we found that a tunnel was leading in a northwest direction, we started to go into the tunnel   and a loud bang hit the side of the wall. We took that as a stern warning and ran out the house. This was back in the '80's (1988 ). My friends, Chris Rice and Tim Farris and I only returned one more time before we graduated but we did not return to the tunnel.
