Maunie, Illinois Ghost Tales


There's nothing remarkable on the subject of Maunie, Illinois in the daytime, but undeceased phantoms of yesteryear in this city don't seem to plan to go away. Some of the passed away will not rest in this town. Doubters don't have faith in the local ghost stories, but with so many ghosts in Maunie you have a quite wonderful chance of noticing one if you spend a night around here.

The ghost of a delivery man can once in a while be witnessed guzzling water from Grand Chain Rapids late in the night.

A gentleman's body having the head of a sheep was distinguished mid stream in Brushy Slough trying to exclaim something. There have been further descriptions with reference to this ghost in the neighborhood. Local people who have perceived this ghost allege this ghost can be the soul of a local person who passed away here in Maunie some time ago.

A feminine form emerged on the summit of Dogtown Hills at midnight examining the
 
    scenery. Other accounts of this phantom have been described. People here say that this spirit is perhaps the undeparted spirit of a resident who used to have a house here in Maunie.

The ghost of a lady having the sign of the devil engraved into her back was noticed soaring across the Dogtown Hills at night. Further folks in close proximity have
  had matching occurrences with a very similar ghost. A resident alleges that this spirit is the stressed spirit of a former Maunie person who lived here. In any case, this is an intimidating ghost that is rather not disturbed.

The ghost of a woman with a knife in her chest showed up in Camp Pahoka in the early morning hours before sunrise frightening people. This is one of those ghosts that is observed frequently in the vicinity.
