Mount Sterling, Illinois Ghost Tales At the birch apartments in Mt. sterling there is a shadow figure of  what seems to be a man pacing the hall way in front of our bedrooms. My 2 yr old son and my newborn daughter both share a room for the time being. When sitting in my living room I can see the figure pace the hallway in front of their room. I have heard 3 different screams from different women in one night, and a loud whistle sound coming from right in front of me when both kids are fast asleep. When my son starts to wake up and moan or cry you can hear someone in the room hushing him back to sleep. In the hallway going to the rooms right up against the wall where no one could possibly walk there are LITERAL shoe prints going in a single line down one side of the hall way in front of my kids room and back up the other side of the hallway. A semi translucent man clad as the skipper of a oil tanker has regularly been spotted by Kleinlein Farm Pond Dam at night looking at the water. The phantom of a young-looking gentleman sporting a confederate uniform is regularly distinguished in the center of Avery Branch trashing a glove.
