Alright I believe in ghosts too. I grew up in Mundelein on the route where the old apple orchard is (aka Quiggs orchard. ) That entire suburb, Lion country; that's my division or my dad's at least. I know Mundelein like the back of my hand and let me tell you something. Even my father swears on it. One afternoon in the winter of 94, I was 8 then, my dad was driving to the community center just off of the intersection of Crystal and Midlothian.
After we parked the car I was already standing on the trail. It was a bike path and jogging path that encircles that little pond there. Anyway I was waiting for my dad to get the gear out of the car, and I had head a little girl laughing. I didn't see anything at first, but then when I called for my father to the spot at the point where I was standing I felt a tap on my shoulder. I spun around only to see nothing. As we walked down the embankment to the water's edge, I saw a reflection of a bird and went to go chase after the bird. However, when I went back to the fishing spot I saw my dad was already on the ice digging a hole as to where we catch some fish. Right before I stepped out there on the ice I felt like I couldn't move.
My dad looked at me with this look on his face that I will never forget. He said that there was a misty fog surrounding us, but that was weird because there was not at all any fog. I looked to the side a little bit, and the fog was starting to take shape in a little girl like form. Now I had always heard stories. I guess back when that senior community center was founded. A little girl was at her grandma's birthday party and ventured a little too closely to the water. She fell in and drowned. Like I said, I know Mundelein like the back of my hand, and I know my Mundelein. You don't have to believe it, but my dad swears by it. Let me tell you folks, Mundelein is a rich community, and my family has money. Nonetheless I know my Mundelein, and it has ghosts too. Mundelein looks like a picture on a postcard, but it's got ghosts too.

The Holcomb house for which Holcomb Dr. was named was burned down by the Mundelein fire dept. because it was haunted. I have color 16mm home movies taken by my dad round 1959 of the fire. Don't believe it was haunted? Just ask anyone who lived in the Holcomb subdivision back then.
