Custom Search Poplar Grove, Illinois Ghost Sightings Poplar Grove PAGE 1   2   3     A small brick farm house on Beloit Road close to Town Hall Road which is haunted by original builder and several others. The house is over 100 years old. Historical records are hard to find, but I know the original owner of the house died on the property in a mysterious violent manner. No one was able to prove it was murder, the spouse suspected demonic forces were involved. But the maps of the area around 1860 showed there     was a cemetery set next the creek way in the back of the property. It was one of the first cemeteries in Boone County along with the on Dawson Lake road. Both now have had all head stones removed and the dead are now lost. Additionally, there used to be a old wagon trail that used to go thru the property and a railroad that was removed which also went through what is now Candlewick Lake. It's location is under the what is now pastures for the cows which have resided on the property.
