Scott Air Force Base, Illinois Ghost Tales Along time ago,  before the base was expanded we lived in an old farm house just off the highway of 161.  It now has been torn down due to the expansion.  I was a small child of 8 years old and my sister was 9 when we lived there.  We had several sightings of a uniformed man in our house. The clothes were old looking, nothing like you could see now.  You could hear foot steps going up and down the flight of stairs in our house. We use to have a shed out back of the house.  It was an old shed with a swinging door.  When my father would enter the shed he could not get out.  Someone had to come open the       door to let him out.  Dishes in the kitchen would be moved to different cabinets or just stacked out on the counters.  There was always voices at night too.  After many years living there,  we moved away.    My father went back to the house for a party and the new owners never reported anything unusual happening untill he came over that night.  They were good friends of his.  And untill then, that night, no one ever seen this old soldier in the house.  There use to be a wood burning stove in the parlor of the house but it had been taken out in the remodeling after we moved out.  When my father was there everyone seen this old soldier stroking the wood burning stove and he was looking at my father.  You could even see the glow off the wood burning inside the stove. The friends of my dad told him after that night things started happening around the house.  Furniture moving around from room to room. Light fixtures swaying from walking upstairs when no one was upstairs. Voices at night. It all came back. They sold the house shortly after one of their kids were injured in a fall down the steps. He told his parents that he was pushed. I don't know how long the house was empty or if it was ever occupied again before the expansion of the base. I do remember the grade school beeing just down the road from our house and apartment buildings being on the  otherside of the school .  We walked to school.  I don't have any pictures that I can show but the memories are very vivid. .
