At a house in the Heights, children living there during different decades, have reported that voices that mimic their parents, call them by name from the attic. No matter how tightly the attic door is closed or blocked, it pops open partially. The house was built in 1857. I lived there myself for 20 years and have met others who have lived there and report the same thing.

Most of those who live here in West Frankfort, Illinois are joyfully unaware of the shocking enigmas this town has; tormented ghosts of yesteryear in this town don't seem to be going to pass on. Ghosts are so average here; many residents don’t even lose sleep about it any longer. People who have never stayed a day in this town will let you know it's superstition, but the undead may well show themselves to you if you spend a night in West Frankfort.
