Altoona, Kansas Ghost Tales


By day Altoona, Kansas is an ordinary American city, but there are outlandish things happening in this city during the dark hours. Cabinets travel about, cries coming out of the night. Folks who have never stayed for the night in this town will tell you it's untrue, but seeing is believing and if you spend the night here in Altoona, you could distinguish a ghost.

These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently.

The phantom of a security guard with a bullet hole in his forehead has every now and then been noticed appearing frightening by Big Cedar Creek.

The ghost of an elderly man with a long white beard is once in a while distinguished up on the peak of Buff Mound staring irritably at the viewer. No matter what folks verbalize, it undoubtedly is a creepy spirit that any sensible person wouldn't want to encounter.

The ghost of a guy in an armed forces uniform has supposedly been seen on one or two occasions gazing at the water by Dun Dam late in the night. A local person claims
 
    that this spirit is probably the tormented spirit of a person who used to live here in Altoona.

A woman with a sword sticking out of her head can every now and then be made out striding through an Altoona area graveyard.

The ghost of a female with a sack bound around her head was observed piling bricks quite near Elk City State Park. Additional accounts of this ghost have been described.
