Comment by EJH: I read your story and had to comment on it. Our family lived on Sheridan Avenue from 1974 to 1978. In fact I just submitted my story to this site. One of my friends from high school lived in one of those houses around the same area you're talking about. They also had a lot of activity in their house as we did. Nothing really scary just unusual!.

I was with the Air Defense Artillery at Ft. Riley between late 1993 to March of 1996. Once in the field in the northern training areas out by Keats Gate, I was a driver for a Bradley Stinger Vehicle and was on guard duty between the hours of midnight and 0200. Our vehicle was in protected position where only the main gun is visible from the hole. I was looking through the infrared vision and poking up through the hatch to check things out. I ended up resting my chin on the lip of the hatch and just looking out at the tall grass blowing in the cold wind quite so quite.
I then remember it getting extremely cold as I heard horses at a gallop. I looked to my east as I was facing northeast, and I saw three Cav. Soldiers on horseback in ''Custer'' era uniform. When the lead soldier with sergeant stripes got off his horse and turned to the other two. (Now think I'm guessing at this time I'm approx. 125m. away from them and can hear him clear as a bell like he's directly in front me. ) He said to them ''SHHHHHH walk your horses quietly for that soldier is sleeping,'' and he slowly turned and reached his arm with an out pointed finger pointing directly at me. I snapped up and realized I've been asleep, and it was just so cold that I could see my breath. I closed that hatch and didn't come out until my T. C. woke up and took over guard duty.
A few weeks later I was renting a room at the on post inn because my wife was finally joining me at Ft. Riley. While there I was reading the in-room three ring binder and saw a tab that read ''Ghost Stories of Ft. Riley. '' Intrigued, I flipped to the page and read the story of the three riders on the parade field. I get goose bumps to this day, and this was all in the year 1994. I really don't believe it's the same soldiers from the parade field. Isn't one of them a L.T. or something? Anyway hope y'all enjoy. I also have a few more stories from Ft. Leonard Wood in Mo., but another time.
