Junction City, Kansas Ghost Tales | |

We lived in a trailer by the river in Junction City in the 1970's. One day my brother had been drinking about 7 years ago, we were both in our thirties and suddenly he mentioned something about demons and ghosts. To my surprise he said, for example; ''When I used to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, I used to get this eerie feeling turning the corner of the doorway where the heating unit room was just before the bathroom''. I was stunned because the exact same thing used to happen to me; I remember feeling hesitant to walk past that one spot and would hurry up and run to the bathroom just to get past that one area of our home. The strange thing is that as kids we never told one another, it simply came up many years later in adult hood. I once saw a head peak into our doorway one night during a lightning storm and I did tell my brother then, but he simply said it was probably dad checking in on us, but I doubt it because I could sense it was not our father looking in; so I never spoke of it again - this happened on the

opposite side of the heating unit room across the doorway to our bedroom. Well, I suppose that's life in Junction City.

renting a trailer from a friend after separating from my dad before we moved into our home in Manhattan Ks. This trailer we stayed in was the last trailer at the end of the street, situated right next to the woods - it was a bit creepy and I always wanted my window closed at night as the woods were situated adjacent to my window. My room was rather small and narrow with a closet directly across from the head side of my bed, when I slept on my left side the closet doors were right there seemingly less than 3 feet away. I always asked my mother to close the window out of fear that someone may crawl in even though it was far from ground level.. Something about that place just made me feel uneasy and I could not figure it out - I was five years old and just started my first year of kindergarten - I can remember this so clearly.. Now to begin the story for whatever reason I have never forgotten after so many years as I have always tried to understand the meaning of why a dark-shadow like male figure who would appear in that small room in the

middle of the night with his back always turned away from me; his arms moving in a spread out waving pattern along the top center of my closet doors and I could literally hear him say in a seemingly frantic/sad voice, ''Where are you?, Where are you'' he would repeat himself approximately 2 or three times. He reminded me of Frankenstein because from what I can recall the top of his head seemed square or flat, but the rest of his silhouette appeared like a regular human shape or form. The first time I witnessed it as this occurrence awakened me in the middle of the night, I laid there frozen with fear, pulled the covers slowly over my head leaving enough room to breath and at least catch a glimpse at what he was doing while I laid there in complete fear and curiosity and the same time. All I could do was just watch and wonder if I was having a nightmare and dreaming, but the terrible part is that I was awakened and knew I was not dreaming.
