Carl Junction, Missouri Ghost Tales I was walking down the road to my house one summer evening. My truck had ran out of gas about a mile from my home. The month was June but it was unuaslly cold. It was very dark and I could hear thunder rolling in the distance and I could see lightning flashing. Suddenly, everything got eeirely quiet. But then I strangely heard footsteps behind me. I stopped and the footsteps stopped. But when I started walking again, so did the footsteps. Then I got a chill, like someone was breathing down my neck. I turned around really fast and I what I saw horrified me beyond anything else. The mutulated form of a man stood there and looked at me. Then there was a big flash of lightning and he cried out and said, ''Beware of the next driver!'' and then he vanished. After that a ghetto van pulled up and a creepy guy with a mullet asked if I needed a ride but I said no thanks because I realized I had made it to my house. The van drove away and I went inside and changed my pants. About a week later I heard on the news that the creepy guy in the van that       had offered me a ride had been arrested for murdering 3 people. He was known as the ''Hitch-hiker Killer''. I couldn't believe it. The scary ghost had saved my life. A few days later I was at the grocery store when my neighbor, an old farmer, told me the story of the ghost. He had been an old hitch-hiker back in the 50's but he was brutally murdered.   His spirit lives on that road and protects hitch-hikers from danger. I am thankful for the hitch-hiker ghost.
