On most nights a misty figure appears under the bridge. The figure of James Scott, lynched on the bridge by the townsfolk of Columbia MO, can be seen as a misty type spirit, wandering back and forth under the bridge. Several dozen EVP's have been collected there hearing a man stating ''I didn't do it. I'm innocent. ''
Word through the town in 1923 said he hurt the daughter of a German professor. Mr. Scott proclaimed his innocence to his death. I was told by current towns folks that it was proven someone else committed the crime and was tried later. For many years the town tried burying the story of James Scott. He is buried in the Broadway Graveyard.
