tired and sick at the time that I didn't even question it before rolling onto my other side. When I actually registered what I'd just seen my eyes snapped open and I rolled back over. Of course no one was there and the only other people in the room besides myself were fast asleep.
I could easily have been hallucinating or dreaming but it still unnerves me.

This was about February or March 2019 B CO. 1-48 2nd Platoon first cycle of the year. I was getting medically discharged for injuries during training, and I was still in the same bay as my platoon just a different area if you know what I mean. It was me and 5 other guys in the area. We had our own beds, but I remember it was about 0300-0330, and I was on my side. It was almost completely dark except for these two bulbs above one of the guys' beds who slept in the middle of the room.
I thought I heard talking, so I was half asleep telling them ''stfu I'm trying to sleep.'' I opened one of my eyes, and I saw these two bulbs on nothing else except for like this damn near 7-foot tall just pitch black shadow. It was tall and damn near touching the roof like directly under the light. It was just a shadow watching my homeboy sleep, so you know what I did? I turned my back over and went back to sleep. About an hour or two later we were all talking and cracking jokes, and I brought up what I saw.
This guy that had the shadow over him tried to say it was 1SGT doing headcount, but I asked the other guys, and three of them saw the same shadow figure at the same time as me. Apparently the four of us woke up at the same time and saw the light on, and we saw this shadowy tall figure standing in the middle watching us in the middle of our area. I don't know what it was, but that's something I'll always remember.

Comment by Bob: Well, there has been much death pass through Ft. Wood since WWII in 1968. I remember 8 trainees that were murdered. Bodies thrown into dumpsters. Every day there were pallets of body bags at the airport and fork trucks unloading the dead. It was bad during Vietnam, so yes it's a haunted base.
