Holden, Missouri Ghost Tales I lived in one of Holdens Historic Civil war houses. My sister and I never actually saw anyone, but there for sure were old spirits in that house. There was a lot of electronic activity with the TVs and DVD players. As well as children voices. The house was said to have been apart of the Under ground railroad as well as being haunted by the Civil War soilders. I never quite understood where the children voices came from though. A man who       lives here claims that this ghost takes pleasure in scaring people who have the nerve to disrupt the serenity in Holden. The ghost of an aged gold digger with a sizeable mustache and a wooden leg has every now and then been seen in a row boat on Johnson E-24 Lake shouting. The ghost of an aged lady gripping a gun has been said to have   been witnessed on a handful of occasions hurling bricks into the flow at Briar Creek in the early morning hours. Several of the residents argue this ghost takes pleasure in scaring foolhardy people who come trying to locate ghosts in Holden. The ghost of an elderly Indian chief has often been perceived late in the night chasing a passing Buick on a dark road near Holden. The phantom of an aged cleaning lady is often witnessed in the backseat of a pickup by the driver distinguishing the ghost in his rear view mirror in the early morning hours before sunrise. If you listen to the folks who live here, this spirit may very well be a celebrated old days resident of Holden. The ghost of a youthful woman dressed as a house keeper has allegedly been seen on a few occasions by a guy hunting in a forest near Holden. The ghost of a dispossessed guy can repeatedly be made out in Knob Noster State Park quite near the park headquarters crying out names of people. Regardless of what people say, this is an unfriendly phantom that any reasonable person wouldn't wish to run into.
