The ghost of the marshal's wife is said to haunt the Marshall House and Jail Museum. You can tour this and go into some of the cells where outlaws like Frank James was incarcerated. Many inmates there were not well treated in the dark, dank quarters and I would imagine some weird goings-on occur there often. Even some of the employees agree!. Back in 1980 when I was 18 yrs old, a group of us decided to check Rickey rd out (I live in Independence Mo). It was dark, after 9 or 10 pm. As we got to the top of the hill, the driver turned out the headlights, after we looked down below and saw a fire burning. Without the car's lights on we could see a group of people dancing in odd motions all around the fire. We decided to get out of the car, thinking we would be safe since we were away from these people. But immediately after leaving the car, the atmosphere changed all around us. It was very heavy, eerie and felt sad and bad together. We all got back

Most of the folks here in Independence, Missouri are happily uninformed of the terrible secrets this settlement keeps; this settlement has frightening secrets masked in the dark. There have been many experiences with individuals from another zone. Not everyone trusts in the testimonies the locals tell, but everyone who stays in Independence is not alive.

A somewhat transparent guy clothed as the skipper of a ship has often been seen snooping in mailboxes late in the night in Independence.
The ghost of a young-looking man wearing a confederate uniform is regularly spotted trying to seize something in Adair Park at midnight.
