Later when I began working in downtown Joplin in the 1970s I asked some older long-time residents of north Joplin who were familiar with the train station when it still operated. No one knew of any ghosts. They did say that some homeless people lived under the nearby bridge from time to time and some had died under the bridge. Maybe one of those homeless people was the ghost after it met an untimely end? I still get the creeps thinking about it!. Submitted

This ghost sighting is from 1980 when I worked at the social security administration office on north main street. North Joplin is an old area of the city. I lived about three blocks from the SSA office where there were some very large old Victorian-era homes (mansions? ) and one that still had an old carriage house on its grounds is where I saw two ghosts one evening as I walked past it to my house. The ghosts were walking the grounds and appeared as gray-white apparitions. They appeared to be juvenile boys clothed in gray-white Victorian-era clothes. They disappeared before my eyes. It was the only time I saw them. I used to walk home from the office going past that huge dark house with the huge trees in the yard. There was solid shade across that lawn and it made things dark around the huge old house (3 storied).
