I was also told in those days it was sometimes used as a sort of funeral parlor. The home had large rooms with ornate woodwork and tin ceilings. Many strange things happened over the years I lived there. However I never seen a physical ghost. When I was around six I was playing on the floor of my bedroom. A doorway into my parents room     stood open and I could see into the room. Suddenly I heard a slow creaking noise and I looked up. A double closet door was slowly swinging open. Instantly a feeling of terror like I have never Felt swept through me and I ran out of the room and down the stairs into the living room where the rest of my family were watching TV. I didn't immediately Tell them for fear of being teased, but I later learned others had experiences also.
