A shape with a skeleton face sporting dark robes was seen staring at the water by Gordon Lake Dam late in the night. The eye witness ran away after he spotted the ghost.

A wandering ghost emerged giving a conducted tour of Negro Bend Bluff to a crowd of ghosts around midnight. The spirit was indifferent that there was someone else present.

The phantom of a young-looking Indian warrior was perceived in Big Hollow Branch shining a kerosene lamp. The appearance of the watcher frightened the ghost who then faded away. Local people say that
 
    this spirit may well be a distinguished days gone by native of Polk.

The ghost of a strong lumberjack carrying a large axe showed up in Bolivar Public Use Area before sunrise hauling a dead body over rocks. The witness freaked out and escaped.

A scary skeleton was witnessed around midnight scrutinizing Horn Hollow in detail. The ghost did not appear to be anxious by the witnesses.
