Springfield, Missouri Ghost Tales I grew up near Linden lure [close to Sparta} and I believe the land is haunted.  We lived in a trailer and we would hear footsteps in the hall when we were all outside. Once when I was about 12 something tried to smother me while I slept. I fought it off and it pinched me leaving a bruise.  There was also a bigfoot like creature that ran around outside and it would try to get in.  We lived on Arbour Road and the trailer is still there.   My grandfather and my mother both died there of heart attacks (NOT AT THE SAME TIME). Submitted by Colette       Category: home There is a ghost at the C Inn and he will play pranks on you just for the fun of it. I witnessed this ghost named Carl in the bathroom at the front of the building. He turned off the light next to me and by unscrewing it while       noone was around but me (because me sister had walked out right before me). He is someone you don't want to go looking for but someone who will look for any way to freek you out. Also my mother was working the frount desk and the light above her went out and when she called the janitor he said they were unscrewed but not busted or anything else. Submitted   by Tory R. Having had to sell the family estate after my parents died both at the home where I grew up in I did take a digital recorder walking around the grounds in a old school yard (now closed for 30 years and thru the church grounds behind the house I caught something I never expected. I heard children playing and laughing and talking and there was NOBODY in sight. I never heard anything else but it sounded as if the children was beside and at first it startled me so I did not continue to listen to it for many months. I have no explanation for this, and tried to debunk it myself, but the children and their playing is there and I know there was nobody outside playing. For one it was a late morning during the middle of week and I still live in the neighborhood, so I would be able to have an idea of noises that are out of placewould be especially if you see nobody around. I need to do it again cause the conversation I did hear was about one child teasing another child about kicking a ball so I believe it maybe justaresidual haunting. It is a very old building from what I have been told it was a girl finishing school before a public school bought it decades later.
