Comment by Jane: There actually was a large plantation built where the mall now stands so that is most likely the source of the paranormal activity.

I lived on E Central St here in Springfield. I was hearing footsteps upstairs in the upper part of my house I was living in. There was no one up there. I went into the living room and stood at the end of the staircase that led upstairs and there the door was closed.

I told ''whoever is up there please come down. '' I stood there for five minutes and then I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. The old boards of the stairs were creaking with every step. I felt a hand touch me on the shoulder.
Then a male voice saying you are safe here. One night my best friend was over and he heard footsteps upstairs and looked worried for me. So I had him come into my room and sit on my bed. Then I told him I will show you that I am not lying or crazy about this ghost.
I went into the living room and called for ''Howie'' to come down and meet my friend. I heard him come down the staircase and my friend did too. I went back into my bedroom and told Howie to come in and sit down.
