Hector, Arkansas Ghost Tales | |

Many of the residents of Hector (though they may not admit it) have known of the Hauntings at Rock Springs Cemetery (South of Hector) for over 100 years. One ghost will start out to appear much like the sparks of a cigarette, thrown from a car. However, if your brave enough to stay around long enough to watch it, it will eventually evolve into something much more sinister. Eventually the ''swirling sparks'' will take the form of a lady. A VERY unhappy lady! She will start out crying very lightly. The cries will then turn into a full blown scream! Then, she will try to approach visitors. Another apparition in this cemetery is that of baby. If you will stand behind the church building next to a baby's grave with the name ''S-----'' on it, you will hear the cries of a baby. They, too, will get louder and louder, the longer you hang around. One ghost there likes to open and shut car doors of visitors to the cemetery. Back in the 1940's local residents believed that this place was inhabited by ''Shadow Folk''. We now call these strange beings

''Shadow People''. The local residents feared them because as they would say ''no good comes from them, they are bad''. I myself have experienced the baby crying. I got scared when it started and didn't stick around long enough to see how loud it actually got.
