Marion, Arkansas Ghost Tales When my husband was a teenager, a group of his friends and him went into an old burned down church. The story behind the church, or what iv'e been told, is that During sunday school one day a child accused the male teacher of molesting him/her and the teacher proceeded to lock the children and himself in the classroom and set it on fire. Being that the church was made of particle board it went up fast and killed everyone. When my husband and his friends went into the church he told me that the door slammed shut and it felt like all the air was taken out of his body. he said he was frozen and could not move all he felt was evil. As he was telling my brother and myself the story one day when we were passing by it, all of a sudden my brothers eyes start to tear up and he had no idea why. About a year after we were told this story the church went up in flames. On the 20 yr anniversary of the incident. The strange thing is that there were no signs of arsen and there was no electricity running to the building. The fire was so big the street it       was located on, Mound City rd., Was blocked off. I don't know if any of the background stroy is true but it is very spooky none the less. Not everyone   has faith in the testimonies the people who live here tell, but the ghosts of Marion are out tonight trying to locate someone to frighten. A female with a spear sticking out of her head may repeatedly be distinguished walking a dog on a dark night on a gloomy Marion avenue. A knight's armor from the middle ages lacking a human inside can be seen often in Avondale Park in the early morning hours stacking chunks of concrete. It has been declared that this particular ghost is the tormented spirit of a long gone Marion local person. In any event, it's a creepy phantom that you don't want to come across late in the night. The ghost of a woman with a bag tied around her head has every so often been noticed drinking blood from a mug on the water's edge of Marion Lake. A semi translucent man dressed as the skipper of a fishing boat is now and then perceived staring across Lloyd Bottom at the stroke of midnight. A sizeable frightening ghost can every now and then be distinguished staring through residence windows in Marion late at night.
