I'm not quite sure the exact address of the site, but I believe there are remnants of a certain unpleasant someone or something near Guy Berry Intermediate School. When I was 15, I frequently visited my friend's house who lived by the school. We were both mischevious and intensely curious. We decided to sneak out of her house at midnight and explore a little, just for the heck of it. We played on the swings for a little while on the playground at Guy Berry and soon grew very bored and decided to play ding dong ditch instead. A few very unhappy residents of the neighborhood beyond the school were, needless to say, very irritated by us. We found an old dirt road leading behind a bunch of shrubbery somewhere between Guy Berry and Hwy 62. Naturally, we followed it. We came across a pitiful looking house, obviously abandoned and half torn apart. She pointed to the window of what was clearly supposed to be the attic and told me she could have sworn she saw something move. We were instantly fascinated and, armed with a few large pieces of wood from

the wreckage, decided to investigate. The porch was non-existent, so we scrambled up onto the threshold. We looked around for a minute to make sure no one else was in the room. She grabbed my arm and pointed toward what would have been the kitchen. I followed her gaze and stiffened as a black shape moved slightly toward us. I tried to convince myself

that the dark was playing tricks with my eyes but thats difficult to do with the hair on your arms and neck raised up and every gut instinct you have is screaming at you to run. I stayed still and blinked hard a few times, then i slammed my weapon of wooden debris hard against the door, which nearly fell off its hinges. The black figure seemed to have disappeared. We were both really scared, and also VERY curious. Off to the left of what I can only hazard to guess was once a living room was a very narrow staircase. We decided that what we had seen must have been a figment of our over-active imagination and we should also explore the attic. We made our way towards the staircase and began climbing. Many of the steps were rotten so we had to crawl up most of the way. We got to the landing and looked around. The ceiling was very low and we heard what we thought was probably one of the abused support timbers let out a low groan. When we heard this noise again, immediately after the first, but in a little higher pitch, it occured to me that they

almost sounded human, the first sounded male, and the second, female. We didnt budge as we stood in the dark. The higher pitched moan seemed to be clearer, I almost felt like I could pick up syllables and perhaps even a word or two out of it. I felt we were eavesdropping on someone's conversation. My friend took a step and a board cracked under her foot and the noises stopped immediately. We looked around and something big and black caught my eye just under the window. It wasnt black like a silhouette, its shape wasn't definite. We heard another groan-like sound, even deeper than the first we heard. It sounded as if it were coming from the floor under the window. She grabbed my wrist and started running down the stairs, some of which broke under us which caused further panic and frustration. We left the house and ran as fast as we could back to her house. According to my friend, when she looked behind us as we ran, she could see a shadow-like figure following, darting from one tree to the next. Needless to say, neither of us slept at all that night. The next day we took into consideration the fact that there was a cemetary less than a block away, which didnt support our ''it was just our imagination'' theory. I'm 18 now, and I still can't really explain what happened that night. Was it something paranormal? Or were we just young and paranoid? If anyone knows anything about this mysterious place please post something. Submitted by Christina Categories: abandoned_house, sounds, cemetery, school, figures, woods
