Gibsland, Louisiana Ghost Tales My family owns the old Gibbs-Reno house for which the town is named. I spent many nights there as a child. One night I was awakened for no reason at all and found myself face to face with a translucent mist roughly in the shape of a person. I don't know how but I felt like it was looking at me as an intruder. I was so scared I couldn't move or look away. It slowly moved across the room and melted away into a wall. I never said anything about it to anyone and I never saw it again. Based on what the local residents assert, this ghost takes pleasure in startling foolhardy folks who come looking for ghosts in Gibsland. A fluorescent human form is every so often distinguished in a mirror in a Gibsland   apartment; the spirit was solely visible in the mirror. Lots of people who live here allege this ghost may be the soul of a local who passed on here in Gibsland some time ago. One thing's for certain, this spirit undoubtedly is frightening; one that you would not want to encounter in the early morning hours before sunrise.
