Sometimes at night people claim to this day to hear the old steamboat churning the water as it makes it's way up river and hearing the faint sounds of it's old steam whistle making a journey that will never end for the crew of the Hayden.

This weekend I decided to go down to the waterfront in Logansport and see the Christmas lights. In the back of my mind I kept waiting to hear the sounds of a phantom train coming across the bridge but instead I saw something I have never seen before. A trick of the eyes maybe but under the train bridge next to the boat ramp I saw a well dressed southern gentleman walking along the river bank and then suddenly the image was gone.
I went home and did a little research and found out a river boat gambler by the name of Tom Collins (this is where the name of the alcoholic beverage came form) was shot to death while walking off this steamboat in this same area.|
Maybe old Tom came to visit and look at the Christmas lights.|

Some of the graves in this old grave yard are above ground and have fallen in, being exposed to the world. One day as a young man seeking a new adventure I was exploring this graveyard at dusk one evening proving I am fearless, not scared of anything. When I came upon this young boy sitting beside a grave dressed in a white night shirt crying. I asked him if I could help him, I was a friend and meant him no harm. He turned with a face of tears and said my mommy left me here and never came back, and with a blink of an eye he was gone. I ran from the cemetery to never return until recently and noticed a little grave marked only with a brick, it said Jacob and nothing else.
