Bison, Oklahoma Ghost Tales My ancestors settled in this area from Czech. Before they left their homeland their hired a soothsayer to tell them something of their future. She told them she saw a coffin, half closed, with a rope wrapped around it, trying to secure whatever was inside. Several years later, after they had settled near Bison, a great aunt of mine died in child birth. It was hot and the body lay several days before they were able to make a coffin and bury her. In the meantime her body swelled to great girth. They had to wrap the coffin with a rope to hold her body inside. The ghost of a destitute gentleman is once in a while seen hauling a corpse from the ice cold water of Buffalo Creek at the stroke of midnight.
