Bromide, Oklahoma Ghost Tales One night, three of us were sitting in a gazebo across the street from the old stores on the main road going through. The stores have long been deserted and are mostly rubble. We were chatting away when we all had the sudden urge to look over toward the store. When we looked over we saw a woman in an Edwardian style dress and hat peering out, what used to be a window, at us. We couldn't quite make her out other than her clothes. We looked at each other than looked back to find that she had disappeared. We ran over there to find nothing. We hoped in our car and drove away as fast as we could. Some of the departed refuse to stay in their graves in this settlement. Disbelievers don't have faith in the local ghost reports, but anyone who has spent the night in Bromide, Oklahoma knows better. These       are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently. A man without a head may frequently be made out hauling a body from the cold water of Houghtubby Branch around midnight.
