Cheyenne, Oklahoma Ghost Tales I was born in cheyenne, and grew up there, before the battle of the washita site became state or federal porperty there was just a monument, many towns kid used this as a party place to drink and socialize, One very cold Nov night a friend met me there to drink and talk. it was around 1:00 AM and snowing lightly. we finished our visit and my friend left. I got out of my car to releave my self before going back to town. It was then that I heard people screaming, horses running and shots being fired from guns. It was terrifying, I jumped in my truck and drove to town, I never again went out there after dark or ever in the Month of Nov. It wasnt a battle it was a massacure I to this day beleave it was the ghosts of that place, The killed people were buried there, and for many years was just a local place, unti the Fed Gov build a Park.  many of the local Cheyenne  Indians wont go there today. There are many old storys told by my elders of this place and all over Roger Mills county OK. .
