Being a former jail officer and dispatch officer at the McIntosh County Jail I have spent many long scary nights in the century-old jail. Several ghosts haunt the jail. At any given night doors, for no reason, would slam shut or open right in front of you. Several inmates have also reported seeing a large black man walking the halls of the jail late at night near the very cell he hung himself in. Public records have indicated that at least a dozen or more

fatalities have occurred within its walls including an employee at the time that died from a sudden heart attack.
During my late shift one night

at approximately 3:30 am I looked through the window of the dispatch room, and I saw a transparent man standing there looking straight at me. I closed my eyes, and as soon as I opened them he walked straight through a wall. Several inmates in north side and south side blocks have reported seeing a man look through the bars at them then turn away. He was possibly a jailer who was almost killed there by inmates in the early 1950s. Voices can be heard
