While living in a house my family had built as a young child I would consistently hear my name being screamed at me as I fell asleep. I thought it is best to assume that this was due to my drifting mind falling over the edge of wakefulness and into the abyss of sleep. This theory did not hold up for long. I slept in a room in the underground portion of our house and had a stairwell to contend with when entering or leaving my room. One night as I went to sleep I heard my door open and a single male voice, a person that I knew as a matter of fact, at the top of the stairs telling me quite frantically to come upstairs. The light from the room above was shining down into my room which aided in waking me up. I went upstairs to find that the door to my room was actually closed. I never heard it shut. No lights were on, nor had they been. I reached up and grasped the light bulbs in their fixtures, and they were stone cold. No one was awake. I went to my room and felt childish as I turned on my radio and muted the sound, so that the light from the face lit my room. I decided then and there that I was not going to say anything about it to anyone. I assumed that I would not be believed.
I kept it to myself, thinking that if it got any worse I would then tell someone. It did not stop but never got any better either. Being woken up at three in the morning to a symphony of voices cajoling me to ''Wake up, Ashley! '' was not fun, but it certainly seemed better than being thought ignorant. Some months later, I slipped while talking with my father who had also slept in the room. He slept there due to an illness he had and did not want my mother getting it. I told him that I was glad that I had gotten a different room since one of my siblings had gone to college. He wanted to know why. I did not want to say the real reason, but I was unable to lie to my father. So, I told him. He stared at me for quite some time. Then he finally asked if I was lying to him. I knew that this was coming, so in a resigned voice I told him he did not have to believe me. I did not want to believe me either, truth be told. ''It isn't that I do not believe you,'' he said to me. ''It's just that I never said anything to anyone, and it feels almost silly to do so now, but the same things happened to me nearly every night. He also heard voices yelling, doors opening, and finding that no one is awake. It should have made me feel better knowing that there was someone who believed me, but it did not. It did not because that meant everything I was seeing and hearing was not just my imagination.

I have two stories of EMS hauntings. I worked for Grove EMS. While I was an employee there we had two houses that we would sleep in, one in the Cleora area and one that stood where the new hospital now sits.
Let me begin with the one in the Cleora area. This was a private home that our EMS service rented out. The way our service worked was pretty typical for an ambulance company. We would work for 24 hours, and then a new team would come in. Now this house was in the county down a winding road with the trees that go over the road you know kind of like that spooky hollow effect. The house was all one story that had a basement. The basement was Uber creepy. Now I never went down in this basement because the stairs is the type of stairs that if you just looked at it, you thought I will die. There's an old dilapidated tree swing, and I had that grew all the way around the house so that you had complete privacy.
Now whenever we did our shifts, we would be there for you know however many hours until we had to call, and then we would leave and come back. We constantly heard weird creaks and noises. You just felt uneasy like you were never alone in the house. One day my partner Will and I were at work, and we had both been watching Ghost Hunters because what do you do when you are in a haunted house, you watch Ghost Hunters because we were off like that.
