Haileyville, Oklahoma Ghost Tales Driving around Dow lake near Haileyville one night, I suddenly had a terrifying feeling and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Looking up into the rear-view mirror, I could see the glowing outline of a person in the back seat. My buddy was with me in the front, and he saw it too.  We were instantly freaked out, so I punched the accelerator and in less than a mile it was gone.  It started somewhere between the bridge and the old pumphouse, near the dam. A lady with her head and both legs severed has once in a while been spotted by Hartshorne Lake Dam at night looking at the water.
