Mannford, Oklahoma Ghost Tales I have long been retired from the Mannford Police Department and I am unfamiliar with many of the posted sightings. Having patrolled the town late at night, I have encountered unexplained activity in the local schools. On one occassion, I found an unlocked door at the elementary school lunch room. While doing a sweep of the blacked out interior with flashlight in hand and finding no one around, I advised dispatch all was clear. When walking back through the darkened lunch room to exit the same door I entered, a ladies voice said something. The accoustics were not very good in the large, unoccupied room, so I said ''what?'' The ladies voice repeated the same sound. Again, I couldn't understand the short dialogue. So I identified myself as Police and the ladies voice laughed and then started singing. Finally a keyholder arrived and we searched the building again and did not find a living being anywhere. We locked up and left. Almost weekly, I found that door unlocked and only once more did I encounter the ladies voice. Never found the source       but I enjoyed checking that door everynight. A few years later, I found a door unlocked at the back of the middle school. While doing the routine sweep of the interior and at the north end of the hallway, I spotted someone on the south end of the hallway. I identified myself as Police and the figure kept walking south as if to ignore me. I ran   all the way south to the end of the hall way and turned to the east hallway and something caught my eye. The same figure walking away from me at the far end north hallway. I ran to the north end of the hallway to view the figure walk into a science classroom just by the door I found unlocked to begin with. With gun drawn, I entered the class room, shut the door and cleaned sweeped that entire class room. I never did find what I was looking for. The figure never spoke, or engaged me. It didn't walk with a purpose, but more of a stroll. Many more stories to tell but maybe another time. .
