Martha, Oklahoma Ghost Tales

The story regarding the martha bridge is untrue. The bridge didn't collapse until just a few years ago. As in, within the last 5 years (from 2009). However, there is another story to go with the bridge.

If you sit at the 3rd set of rungs from the west side, you will see a figure running back and forth across the street. I don't actually know the history behind this though.

You can get to the west side of the bridge from highway 62. Turn north onto the road after the martha sign. The road will eventually end. Turn east onto the road you run into and you will get to the bridge.

However, the bridge should be repaired soon. Funding has supposedly gone through.

The romantic elderly white haired couple drove their Model-T Ford half way across the old bridge before stopping. The old Martha bridge is just a couple of miles west of Martha, Oklahoma, and very seldom used by anyone. The elderly man got two wine glasses and a bottle of wine out

of the Model-T Ford. The elderly couple stood on the bridge drinking their wine, looking at the water and listening to the birds and insects chirp and sing. Just a couple of years later the man and woman both died of old age. For years following their deaths, many local people swear they have seen a white haired couple standing on the old bridge, and
an old Model-T Ford. Some time during the 1990's the old bridge just crumbled and fell into the river because of it's advanced age and was never rebuilt. But if you drive down to the old bridge site late at when there is a full moon you will see two wine glasses suspended in mid air where the bridge was once located.
