took us to walk about 800 feet from the lake. He would lunge and bark every now and then, and I'd shine my light. Twice I caught movement in the tops of the trees. It could have been an owl or other nocturnal critters, but after all that I am not entirely convinced it was. He calmed down the farther we got from the lake and eventually stopped turning back, though he didn't go back to his chipper self until we got back to the house.

mom is allergic to dogs, so he couldn't come inside, but she did let me keep him in the screened porch. I didn't tell her why, but I think she picked

up on my distress. Despite it being a muggy 85 degrees outside, I stayed with my dog until about midnight when he'd calmed down and cheered up. I still sat up on the bed in the guest room just listening. The only noise he made was to howl at sirens, so I finally went to sleep.
A day later my boyfriend, my dog, and I went back to where we saw the thing. My dog kept sniffing the small area we saw it, walked down to about where he stopped chasing it, and
