While walking along the MKT or Union pacific line in Dale,Tx in the late  80's I spotted a man dressed in 1800's clothing with a long beard, shining his switchmen's lantern and telling me telepathically to come towards him. I never did, I stopped 40 yards away from him, and starring at him in sure fright for about 15 seconds I ducked out into some bushes on the side. Lucky a track inspection truck came through and when it passed I walked back onto the tracks and the ghostly figure was gone.
