El Paso, Texas Ghost Tales

Several years ago on a cold early dark evening, accompanied by my two young sons, I was driving west on I-10, exited on the Alamogordo exit going north.? As I came down the ramp, I noticed a young Hispanic ''Chula-looking'' girl with long black hair wearing dark clothing, she was holding hands with a young Hispanic boy, appeared to be about 3 years old and they were attempting to cross through the highway about 6 lanes wide. Fearing that they would get hit by a car, I pulled over and put my car in reverse to offer them a ride.? My kids began yelling out, ''Mom, what are you doing''.? I explained I could not live with myself if I heard this girl and young boy were hit, so I was going to offer them a ride.? As I got closer to where I had seen them, they were gone.? I thought they had already crossed, but I checked and they hadn't and they didn't have enough time to get into a car, besides that I'd be blocking another car's path.? I looked for a stranded car...nothing. I later realized that the sighting was right under the Spaghetti Bowl where part of the Concordia Cemetery once was. - Ghost picture submitted by BVan

All of my friends and I grew up in the upper valley area on the Westside of el Paso. We all went to Coronado high school. I can say that I never heard the tale of the kids killed in the bus accident in the ''haunted tracks'' on thunderbird. But I can say, that driving home from several parties while attending high school at Coronado. I had creepy feelings driving down thunderbird at night. It always just gave me the willies. And this was like, at 2 or 3 am. It's always so cold and quiet up there. And if you look out over by where the homes on the golf course are, or even in the valleys between the mountain, I swear you can see things ''floating'' around.

But this is the real story I want to submit. When I was 16, I worked at Stateline restaurant over here on the Westside. My ex-boyfriend and I (I'm now married) were driving home from work. It was around 2:30 am, and we had been drinking with friends and co-workers after a long shift. Well, there is this street, Riverbend which is located next to frontera street. Its near Marwood

park which is considered the older part of the upper valley. Anyways, we were driving down the street, and there we see a boy about our age at the time just walking down the side of the road, near the ditch. I asked my ex boyfriend Matt if he had seen what I saw. He said yes and decided to speed up a bit to see if it was one of our friends perhaps
walking home. Well, it wasn't. When we got closer he turned around and looked at us. I got this cold, horrible feeling come over me. I remember Matt looked at me with this scared look on his face. The boy turned around and kept walking. He was very, very pale and had dark hair. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans. When we turned around to look back... The boy was no longer walking there. This is where we REALLY freaked out. I'm scared just thinking about this. I started to smoke a cigarette when we got closer to where Marwood is. And all of the sudden, the cigg gets ripped out of my hand. I had my hand already out the window so smoke could stay out. When I look forward, there we see again, that same kid walking down Riverbend. This time, he was a lot closer to St. Matthews church. That was the scariest thing I had ever experienced. We knew that was a ghost. It was just too creepy not to be. Matt and I both had later learned that back in the late 1970's a kid that went to Coronado hung himself of this old willow tree that sits on the
opposite side of the ditch from Riverbend. There are no lights on the street, only the ones that light up Marwood. The street is always foggy around 2-4am.
