I have recently taken up the hobby of ghostchasing. Recently I, along with my 19 yrs old sister and a gaggle of her friends, took a field trip to the old defunct Hospitol/asylum in Jacksonville Tx. I wanted to see for myself if it was haunted. The rumor has been going around since the early 90's. I, being sensitive to the paranormal since birth, wanted to feel for my self if it was or not. Coming in through a small grove of trees and tanglevine we entered via the rear. Making our way through the bramble in the dark was a task indeed. The tall glass windows and worn metalwork seem to lend a gloomy

looming affect that you feel down your spine even as you enter. I felt it almost swallow us as we picked our way far enough inside to light the lantern without being seen from the road. We were trespassing

after all. It's obvious kids frequent here by the graffiti. Though I did laugh at the spot that said ''Crystal eats people''. I know,I'm sick. But I found it funny and had someone take a picture of it. The first floor is just trashed out by kids. You feel drawn to the stairs in this place. And there are stairwells on both ends of the building. I was drawn down to the basement. The boiler room in particular. There is a spot at the corner of the furnace that gives you a strong sense of sadness that weighs heavy in your stomache. I wasn't the only one that felt it. 3 others felt it. Clearly felt it. I myself

had to get back to the stairwell because it was overwhelming for me in my empathic state. I sensed a rape or some kind of violation occured here. Empathy is a 2 sided razor and more often than not, you
feel terrible things you wouldn't wish on your enemy. The upper floors contained only the wandering earthbound spirits. A welcome relief after the basement. All in all it was a good trip. Though I can
also assure you at least 4-5 of my companions will never go with me again. I will be researching our next excursion. I'll keep you posted on the next episode of ''Ghost Chasers''. Submitted by Rachel
