I got creeped out but didn't give it much thought. Till I was sharing with my co-workers and one who had been raised there said ''oh that is the old so and so place it is haunted!'' She said that it was on a bluff and the old couple was referred to as ''keepers of the bluff'' she said as a teen everyone used to go there and many times saw things that made them stay in their cars.
When she got older she was at a party there and said she saw the old
couple upstairs and they all got the heck out of there, the house has now been torn down, kind of sad? I wonder how many knew about this place and I didn't.
I grew up west of Temple we had our own spook stories!.|

Comment by RG: I think I know just the house / place you're talking about! A friend told me about it and I used to drive past it before it was torn down years ago. A friend told me that there was a small storage space or storm cellar just below the kitchen area where the occupants could hide from hostile Native Americans (if so this gives a good indication of how old the house was! ) she also explained that a family had lived there years ago and that the husband was a violent man.
Ultimately he supposedly killed and dismembered his wife and buried her on the property either in the storage space or near their well in their backyard. The husband was accused and tried for the crime and he admitted to burying her but I'm not sure if her remains were found or not.
I've driven past that site quite often and definitely get a feeling that there is something wrong in that area! I have a story of my own that's somewhat 'kinda-sorta' related to this but I'll tell that one later if anyone wants to know.. :).
Comment by Lette: I have driven down Hartrick Bluff Road many times at night and I noted a fog in one spot. If you are sensitive, and I do have those feelings, one can feel something. I have felt a sense of fear, dread, and anxiety when I get to that one spot in the road and the fog is there.
