You might think that there's nothing odd about Merkel, Texas, but if you are easily frightened, you'd better not come here in the moonlight hours. Some of the dead and buried don't want to rest in this settlement. People who have never spent the night in this settlement will tell you it's all myths, but the undead might show themselves to you if you spend a night in Merkel.
These are some of the spooky things that have happened here recently.
A lady with no head has repeatedly been distinguished taking a rest at the dining table in a Merkel house.
A guy lacking a head is regularly seen facing the onlooker at Hugh Lilly Lake Dam at the stroke of midnight. If you listen to the local residents, this phantom takes pleasure in startling foolish folks who come searching for phantoms in Merkel.
