I grew up in Midland and lived there most of my life. I always had a way of telling people or knowing sometimes of what would or could take place. In the 1980s I lived on Ric Drive with my parents and brother. I always had great respect for the elderly. My grandfather and grandmother were at McDonald's one night with me and an elder of a local church that was 101 years old. He was very active and very nice man. I got to talk and visit with him and really liked him and his stories. As we were leaving he asked me to come visit him sometime. I took his card in my hand, but as it came into my hand I looked at him and knew I would never see or hear from him again before he passed away.
It came to two days after Christmas, just a couple of months after I met him that I found out he had passed around Christmas. I felt very sad and guilty about not visiting him at all even though I knew what I said that day to be true. I could not sleep that night and was crying. All of a sudden my room filled with a great light that blinded me. I called out ''who are you? What do you want?'' The light became less intense and as I tried to uncover my eyes the light got bright again where I could not see at all. Then suddenly it disappeared, and I felt no more guilt and no more sorrow. They say we meet angels unaware. I feel it was either his spirit or an angel telling me that not to feel guilty about it for I knew it was to happen and that he is in a better place. After that night I asked my brother who was really young at the time if it had been lighting that night although I knew it was a clear night that night. He said he saw a ball of light go into my room that night. Now that he is an adult he told me that the night it happened he was not asleep either. He said he saw a small ball of light absorb through his window. He saw it hover then go out of his room. He saw it stop at my door and absorb through my door, and then he said it was like the lights came on in my room. Being a little kid he thought I just turned on my lights. I never told my parents that story because I thought they would never believe me.
When I got married we lived in an apartment on the loop out next to the bowling alley. One night we heard a crash on the floor and went to investigate. It turned out to be a Dr. Pepper bottle that had been on top of the fridge. It was not broken; it was just in the middle of the floor just sitting there. After our first child we moved into a two-bedroom apartment at the same location. I was sick in bed, and I looked up and saw a man dressed in an old style tuxedo walking toward me. He had blonde hair and blue eyes and in about thirties or forties. I yelled for my husband ''there is a man in my room''. When my husband came into the room the man just simply vanished into thin air. We moved to another place on Wadley. It was a townhome. We seemed to be doing well until one day. I was dressing one of my kids, and my other one was asleep in the other room when I saw the upstairs gate lift up and off by itself. Then one time I was in the bathroom, and the sun was not yet up, and I was getting ready for the day when the lights flicked on and off. I said out loud ''what are you going to do now, cut off my electricity?'' Sure enough the electricity all went off, and it was only my place. They found that the main switch outside had been thrown, and they could not tell me why.
Then in 1999 I had to move to my family home in Houston. I knew my grandmother who lived in Midland was not well and really did not want to leave her. She thought I was better off being in Houston. The very next day unpacking in Houston I felt a sudden sick feeling and knew it was my grandmother suffering. I asked the lord in prayer not to let her suffer any longer and to take her with him. Twenty minutes later my mother walked in and told me she was gone. We had to travel back to Midland that night. My brother, my kids, and I stayed with my grandfather while my mom and dad stayed with my other grandparents. My brother slept on the floor. I slept in one bed and my kids the other bed. While we were there the lights in each part of the house kept exploding too. That night I had the closet light on in there, like I always did when I lived there when I was in high school. Grandmother never liked me having it on and she always got on to me. Well that night the light exploded out like the others. My brother and I said ''yes, grandmother!'' We felt her for some reason.
