I later did some research, checking mostly with older law enforcement officers (Leos), and they've seen it too. It's harmless. But real. Not a spirit. They call them Jaguarundi or Coatimundo. They have man face resemblance, long panther-like body, and even a long tail. They stand on back legs, walk human like, and leap 15 to 30 feet.
I saw one also 6 years ago near Bentsen Palm and Military Road, and I peed on one's tail 2 years ago at the Roma
bluff while standing on a boulder, my stream was aimed at what looked like a rope about 10 feet down slope. The rope was striped black and orange, and
it moved quickly as if yanked. As it moved from my stream, and I started to tuck in this man face creature looked at me.|
It literally scared the hell out of me. I yelled out to it, but it leaped into the thick brush and disappeared. My partner and I searched but couldn't find it. It's posted at the Roma bluff lookout over Miguel Aleman. It's been native to wood areas along the Rio Grande but seldom seen. Crazy creature. Real as it gets.
