When someone would go through it it would continue to swing several times until it came to a stop. Now there had been a running joke in our family that if someone went through the door you would stop and brace it with your foot so someone following would bounce off the door. We noticed     that the door wasn't swinging, so we naturally thought that Mom was behind the door trying to trick us. We gingerly pushed the door and it opened easily! There was no one in the kitchen. It was at that moment that my mother's car pulled into the driveway. Even at the age of nine, we knew exactly what had just happened! This is one of many occurrences that we lived with in that lovely old home....
