For what it's worth: Ottine was also home to one of the most widely-used polio hospitals in the state and nation... And was located right next to Palmetto... Many people say that area is haunted not only because of proximity to Texas revolution sites but because so many people died at that hospital.|

I am a long time resident of Luling and while visiting out of town family that was camping at Palmetto State Park in Ottine TX my brother in law and I decided to take the nature trail while the others were swimming or napping.
It was around 1 pm. We were deep in conversation and right before we reached the entrance of the trail in the forest to our right we both felt something was watching us but neither said anything at the time.|
Then in the same instant we both saw a tall figure that looked to be the shape of a man but covered in light brown hair move beside a tree and then run away really fast! We both exclaimed oh my god! At the same time and we ran back down the road to the park area.
No one believes us and think we saw a deer. But you tell me, does a deer run fast balancing on its hind legs only?? This happened in the second side of the park. There is something out there, I know it!.
